One Choice Prevention: A Message of Hope and Science
Presented in February 2022, Caroline DuPont, MD and Corinne Shea of the Institute for Behavior and Health (IBH), and Nancy Pasquale of the Rye Action for Children and Teens (RyeACT) presented the One Choice message and supporting data to the Pacific Southwest and Northwest Prevention Technology Transfer Centers (PTTCs). Participants were invited to explore the One Choice Toolkit, a free online resource with ideas and resources for integrating the One Choice message into youth-led prevention activities and education materials.

In January 2021, IBH Vice President Caroline DuPont, MD presented the One Choice message and supported data as part of Johnny’s Ambassadors’ Expert Webinar Series for Parents.
In this webinar developed for the Southeast Prevention Technology Transfer Center in August 2019, Robert L. DuPont, MD and Caroline DuPont, MD present the One Choice message, review the biology of addiction and the “hijacked brain” and underscore the importance of youth prevention.
Filmed in March 2021, Robert L. DuPont, MD and Caroline DuPont, MD of the Institute for Behavior and Health (IBH) joined Nancy Pasquale of the Rye Action for Children and Teens (RyeACT) to present the One Choice message in a brief summary webinar for leaders in youth prevention to share with their organizations and communities.
In October 2020, the One Choice message was presented to an audience of parents of middle and high school students in the Westchester, NY Speaker Series hosted by KNOW 2 Prevent.
CADCA invited Robert L. DuPont, MD, Caroline DuPont, MD and Bertha K. Madras, PhD to discuss the research article, “Drug use among youth: National survey data support a common liability” published in Preventative Medicine in 2018. The article found that youth who used cigarettes, marijuana, or alcohol in the past month were more likely to also report using another substance than non-using youth. Read more about the study.
